(bell) heather or ling
My kingdom, by Robert Louis Stevenson
My Kingdom
DOWN by a shining water well
I found a very little dell,
No higher than my head.
The heather and the gorse about
In summer bloom were coming out,
Some yellow and some red.

yellow gorse growing in Heddon’s Valley, North Devon (UK). When the sun shine warms it, it smells of something akin to coco-nut/vanilla – lovely

What a beautiful place that is, with the gorse and the stream and the rocks… I love it. I also love the R.L. Stevenson poem. I grew up on A Child’s Garden of Verses.

Such beautiful country. The stream, the rocks, and the gorse is so inviting.

I grew up on “A Child’s Garden of Verses” too. It’s still a wonderful book. So much beauty in these pictures.
